What I enjoy most about rock climbing with Phil Fontilea of ON BELAY climbing is...
Phil was easy to put my kids, ages 9 and 12, at rest. He succeeded in turning a stress activity into a fun sport activity. He smiles all the time and make you easy with the difficulties.
Serge, Paris
He knows how to have a good time all while being safe and aware of what's happening around us.
Liz S., Studio City
The knowledge and safety he portrayed. Everything he does is super safe and I never felt scared with him. I was always confident he would take care of me if I was in a problem.
Libby S., Long Beach
He encourages me but also respects my limits. He takes the time to explain technical points as he is adjusting my equipment before climbing (example : why he is using a specific kind of carabiner). Phil likes to challenge himself... but when guiding a person or a group, he knows just exactly how much each person can handle. He emphasizes so much on safety, that I feel totally safe. He is not simply showing how to climb, he is teaching it.
Tania B., Costa Mesa
He made me feel comfortable fighting one of my biggest fears, and that is heights! He explained why I couldn't get hurt, and went over how the equipment is designed for the "what if's"
Corrie C., Pasadena
I felt completely safe. Phil takes the time to really explain the reasoning behind all the things he does and asks you to do, so you that you can feel comfortable. Beyond that, Phil is highly encouraging and celebrates every step of progress you make on the rock.
Deep G., Santa Clara
The coolest thing I learned about rock climbing during my last excursion out with Phil Fontilea was...
Phil quickly helps you to understand how to use your body to minimize your effort. He provides you with some easy technical stuff and you easily manage to go out of bad position. You feel good!! The only issue is that you don't want to stop...
Serge, Paris
That I love rock climbing! Can't wait to go again!
Liz S., Studio City
I can do things I never thought possible. I never imagined rock climbing. And....it's not that difficult. It's really fun!
Libby S., Long Beach
I can climb! I can do something that is extraordinarily difficult, and I just might have fun doing it...
Corrie C., Pasadena
How beautiful rock-climbing can be. When Phil demonstrates a move and describes a technique, its like an art form - like a dance; it's very cool to watch and learn from someone so fluid and technically proficient that they make something so physically demanding look like art.

Phil Fontilea and rock climbing go together like...
